The skyline of Florence from the garden of Landor’s villa, with views of Brunelleschi’s dome and the tower of the Palazzo Vecchio.
Walter Savage Landor, poet and writer, lived in Florence at the Villa Castiglione from 1821 to 1829, where he wrote some of his best known works.
Provenance: by descent from the artist to his widow Lady Holroyd; to their son Michael; to Michael’s godson.
